MOJOAA Performing Arts Company presents RECLAMATION on August 13 at 5pm at Mordecai Historic Park. This piece features short works and monologues by women of color both local and across the nation. Featuring themes such as hair, body image and street harassment, this event is free and open to all.
"We are particularly interested in reclaiming the physical space, states director Monet Marshall. "As a former plantation, there is trauma associated with this place we want to reclaim this ground as a space of respite and recreation for all." "We want people to come together to remember, reconcile and honor their history," says MOJOAA co-founder Robin Carmon Marshall.
This production will also set the stage for MOJOAA's next piece Escape to Freedom, an interactive presentation on slavery. This immersive theatre piece will be returning to Mordecai Historic Park for the second year on September 23 and 24 after 4 sold out performances last year.
