Down Ballot Brunch & Down Ballot Banter

Down Ballot Brunch is a civic engagement project that encourages people to “Eat. Chat. Act.” It provides a simple and adaptable guide for people to activate and host brunches with friends and family about state and local politics.

Down Ballot Banter is a podcast hosted by Quay Weston and I. We interview community organizers, elected officials, candidates, journalists and more to invite more people into the necessary conversations about state and local politics.

MOJOAA Performing Arts Company

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, MOJOAA is a Black theatre company founded by my family in 2014. MOJOAA uplifts Southern Black Playwrights and the worlds they create with their words. Over the last decade, MOJOAA has produced plays on domestic violence, religious themes, robots and love. Our most well-known piece, Escape to Freedom, is an interactive and immersive presentation on slavery where the audience moves through a former plantation as if they are enslaved in the mid-1700s. During COVID we created “Red Clay Plays”, a podcast that featured performances of short plays and interviews with the playwrights. We are returning to the state in Spring 2025. Visit our website to get involved!
